All American Gate is closed. Start there.

All American Gate, Gate 5, and Gruber Bridge closed at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026. The All American Freeway is closed from the All American Gate to Zabitosky Road in both directions. Construction is expected to take up to 24 months. Gruber Road has a detour at the All American Freeway overpass.

The garrison expects added traffic at the nearest gates that are still open: Yadkin Road, Rock Merritt Avenue, and Canopy Lane to the south; Honeycutt Road, R. Miller Street, and Butner Road to the north. Drive times on this site go to an open gate. None of them use Gate 5 or the closed stretch of freeway, and none of them include the wait at the ID check.

NCDOT’s project is $15.5 million. It replaces the 50-year-old Gruber Road bridge over the All American Freeway and makes permanent repairs to a section of freeway that has been settling. That stretch was built over an old landfill. The contractor is Highland Paving. The All American Gate Visitor Center stays open during construction.

Where the six towns sit

The commute pages cover three Cumberland County towns and three Moore County towns. The comparison that matters is on the neighborhoods index: recorded 2026 sale bands, the school system, the Monday morning drive to a named open gate, and the 2026 combined tax rate. Cumberland bands are single-family sales. Moore bands are all improved property. Those are not the same mix of homes.
